Oyo State Sports Council came into being with the enactment of Western Region Law No. 51 of 1959 which was subsequently amended with the LAW No. 6 of 1964.      The edict that established Sports Council as it is now was signed into Law on 1st July, 1976 as amended in August, 1982 and June, 1999 respectively. The most recent edict that provides for establishment of Oyo State Sports Council stating the functions and powers as well as its funding was accented to on 25th day of May, 2003 by the then Executive Governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina. The Council has Board Members, headed by a Chairman and the Administrative Head is the General Manager.  Moreover,  there are five (5) Directorates, each headed by a Director
